Dennis. That's his name.

Be careful Nick that perfection thing can be a real project killer. Ok when you are your age and time is plentiful. In another 25 years the projected outlook is I have to finish this before they take my license away.

I'm running into a perfectionism issue myself. But. My realistic side tells me 85% of what I am worried about... won't be seen anyways. The way I've been looking at it. If I take the proper steps to stop and seal rust from spreading and fix what really needs attention the car should last another 40-50 years of fair weather driving. Trust me. Knowing something is there is bothersome. But it's easier to live with when you can turn the key and cruise. I'm not saying cut corners, rather don't stress about the tiny stuff. You are doing excellent work. I know who to talk to about firewall rust.

Tonight was productive. Naturally I ran out of wire...and when I checked I didn't have a spare roll...

I have to work a few hours overtime tomorrow and will grab some wire and finish it.

No, that was nothing. People write vans off monthly and don't even get an *** chewing....

Guy I was filling in for came back full-time.

Writing was on the wall...

Unfortunately not. Checked to see if I could get a few days off, but my co-worker has that week booked off.

Unfortunately he and I are the entire shop, so I'm stuck.

Oh well..
I missed you at Carlisle too. I imagine there will be next year, but I'm a little bummed you won't be there.

Nice clamp investment.
It looks like things are coming together very nicely. I'm a third rate fourth rate welder myself, but really enjoy hammering the metal to shape. I like to imagine I have potential, a bubble which bursts often while trying to get things just right. I am fully impressed by all you're doing there.

Good luck on your deadline, I know you can get there, but it might be asking too much of yourself when trying to keep the quality to your standards.

In willing to let a lot that isn't seen slide. My largest concerns are strength and structural integrity.

I love this car and have since I was 5, at this point it owes me.

Funny thing is, that's only about 1/3rd my vice-grips I have at home.

Very nice job!!
A thought - do you have a windshield glass available for a test fit? Be a ***** to discover later the frame is out of square.

The longer I do this car, the more I want it done "right"....it's becoming an affliction. I had to regroup and ended up hacking all of what I did back out.......

I figured out where I went wrong and was able to backtrack to that point so that I could progress correctly...

Clean it all up tonight and weld it in...View attachment 179512 View attachment 179514 View attachment 179515 View attachment 179518 View attachment 179519 View attachment 179521

Dayum! Last night, I dreamed I was there in vice grip heaven. . . Oh, what a beautiful sight.
