Nope.........20 years in Armored Cavalry and Self Propelled Heavy Artillery doesn't result in too many days indoors... especially when deployed overseas for the majority of my time.

My hearing is terrible! I get zero disability for hearing. I was rated 70% disabled by the VA when I retired......a month later I got a letter from the VA that combined a few disabilities and they are paying me a total of 40%. VA disabilty pay for a Retired Soldier isn't what you think it is. The military is the only branch of the government that does the following... For every dollar I get in disability from the VA, the government takes a dollar away from my retirement pay. So another words.. if I get $1000 in Retired Pay and I get 40% disability. I would get a check from the VA for $400 and my Retirement check would be reduced to $600. The only advantage that I get out of the disability pay is that I don't pay taxes on $400 from the VA. If I worked for any other branch of goverment, FBI, Post Office, Homeland, NASA, etc., they all would get $400 disability PLUS their full retirement pay $1000.

It's been really windy here for a solid day and a half. Sustained 30 to 40 mph with 50 to 60 mph gusts and raining.

Its OVER. Last night was the worse time of this whole event for us, HOWLING winds....house was creaking a bit, I watched a couple trash cans roll down the street, saw some transformer explosions of in the distance (but we never lost power) and most of the remaining leaves on the trees near me got blasted off the limbs. Nevertheless, its over, I'm sitting by the fireplace with a cup o' joe. I suspect the next storm that rolls through this neck of the woods will be made of snow, getting to be about that time, give or take a few weeks. Gonna go remove the car cover in two or three hours make sure everything is ok with the Newport.

Yea, and that tall sail ship that sank off the coast of N.C. One or two missing with one confirmed dead. Don't know WTF they were thinking getting caught in that storm. I think it was totally sail powered.

I guess more details will come up in the next few days but yeah, no reason whatsoever did the ship need to be in the area when the storm came thru, esp. being sail powered and whatnot. AC boardwalk took a huge hit too.
