Kenworth or Peterbuilt, what's the difference?So it all comes down to a part# that you cannot reference, a stamp that I could add to the pad myself and .025" of cam lift. Things like taller pistons, intake and exhaust manifolds, carburetor calibrations, distributor curve, are all just unimportant parts, gotta have that stamp and .025" cam lift.

They are the same body shells per line so really no difference other than the sales broucher. Sure you can argue that they are different models, but they are the same.Barracuda or Cuda

If all 68-70 383-4 are HP then asking how many 383-4 HPs were built is redundant. Why would you need to include the HP designation unless you need to distinguish an HP assembly from a standard performance assembly?
If Mopar considered all 68-70 383-4 to be HP then the question should be why they even bothered to stamp some blocks HP but not all.
If all 68-70 383-4 were HP, then the question should be why does there seem to be a higher percentage of these assemblies stamped with HP in B and E bodies and not C bodies?
Sorry to see the O P is still frustrated, I'm enjoying this thread and I've picked up some great info. Seems like the marketing people and the engineers had different ideas on what makes an HP motor.
The machined pad next to the distributor.That's the crux of it right there.
Where would the HP be stamped on a 383? Pan rail?
