GJS's 1967 Dodge Monaco 500: Beverly

Another boring post but, cranked her over a few times and got pressure. Hooked up the gas with the coil wire off and cranked till the pressure came up again, hooked up the coil and she sputtered. Threw some advance at it and she fired off. Was unable to keep her running long enough to put a timing light on her so I'm not really sure where I'm at that way but no clacking or clunking. Hoping to get a minute this week to do it again. ... but she wants to go anyway.
Hope y'all had a good Labor Day!

Whatta lil charmer! Started right up today, timing was a little retarded so I set her static then let her idle a while and warm up. Choke works great. Vacuum advance was all good when checked. Leaked a whole lot of tranny fluid while sitting so I topped it off once warm, adjusted the idle, threw the aircleaner on and took off around the block.
Not exactly ready for the highway (or hills really. Had to abandon the first hill due to bogging or starvation, haven't gotten to that yet) steering is a mess, tranny is gonna need attention but man, for 100,000 she purrs like a kitten. I'm a little concerned about the blow by but, sh**, I'll have my own garage soon and may just conjure up the nut to rip the motor and tranny out this winter and make it all newish.
Friggin awesome to drive her though. I missed these cars so much I can't believe it... like being home again!

Nice work. Progress made is always awesome. I'm in your boat too. Thinking about pulling the motor and trans over the winter.

Really, the only thing that would keep me from doing it is getting knee deep in electrical.... which is another big question mark. Guess I'll see how adventurous I'm feeling.

The styling is amazing but the back end of that car! The tail lights are awesome.
Yep. Ever since I saw one for the first time, I couldn't get over it. The tail lights, the grille, the dash layout .. I loved my 68 like crazy but these little differences always stuck with me.

I can officially say that I'd drive her to the grocery store. ... as I essentially did just that. Still a little groggy but she made it about 5 miles at a top speed of 40.. temp good, oil pressure a plenty, no detonation, all gears are there, tracks well enough....gonna have a hard time finding that sweet spot with this calibration kit (don't cha love that they provide you with the stock calibration parts as a part of the kit? Nothing like paying twice for something that don't work.)
Anyway, f***in good times!

It's a nice feeling! Gotta hit the ride height this weekend and do a lil more tinkering with the carb and timing but I think a lot of the issues were the timing chain and sitting. She was faultering pretty badly when I got her but she wants to run right now. Who knows? Maybe I get a few seasons of cruising before I completely rip her down? Love that friggin car!
