Guilty Pleasures

Photo is missing the essential wasabi .. but I got hooked living in Tokyo for a year.

Seen 'em dozens of times but endings (final 3-4 minutes) STILL get an emotional reaction outta me (based on the setting, the music, the directing, my "investment" in the characters' stories, etc..) :)

yup.

a while back in this thread, i posted Hoosiers, another sports' themed flick with a great ending (all elements at filmaker's disposal worked well). couldnt help but root for those kids too,.

this one too btw. know exactly what's coming, still like anyway, guilty as charged :)

Was watching the flick in Carson City years back when it came out. A guy turns to me and says at the end, "In the book he strikes out and dies." Wow, thanks!

I would NOT have liked that ending in the book -- maybe the book set that ending up better, but there's nothing "redeeming" about it -- which i never knew there was a book ... until today

So for those who haven't seen the film, i wont specify the exact ending BUT our hero did NOT appear to die as he did in the Malamud book apparently. :)

unless ... the last 20-30 seconds before the end credits roll is a "dream, realiity-bending sequence" of some sort (ala "Inception") and all these years I missed that? Nah, can't be.

Speaking of Inception, yes, I had to see it three times before I understood it. I liked it, but it went over my head .. twice.

The only way too fly! People wonder how i manage so much traveling for work.
Bose headphones rocking the classics. Great music so clear i can count the violins and feel the bow hit string. Couldn’t compose a nursery rhyme myself, but love listening how the greats put together the masterpieces.

This one showed in our part of the country. Supposed to be "aw, aint that cute", "Suburu equals Love", etc, but I was just pissed off by it.

Maybe I am missing the point, feel guilty if so, but i just don't care. I wanna punch that Dad in the face and send the young'uns to their rooms .. for a month.

:) (just kiddin' .. kinda .. so nobody report me ok?)

Ahhh, Subaru owners. There's a reason i hate getting stuck behind them..

i got nuthin' against nobody ... but "C'mon man"!

they just put soap and water, and more water, and whatever was in that friggin' tube, IN your friggin' dash, satellite radio, steering wheel, console, airbags, headliner through your sunroof, carpets, door panels, seats ..

and all you say is "Uh hugk, uh hugk, heh heh, ya missed a spot", instead of running to get your "gosh-darn" Shop-Vac. :BangHead:

ahh yes .. i'm happy now. mini-rant over. :)

Had a young lady (a stranger, early 30's maybe) follow me into a store yesterday, i pulled door open to let her go first, she stopped and gave me a mild "stink eye", didnt say anything but wouldnt move. No confrontation .. I just nodded to her and went in first. She did say "thank you" tho

My millenial daughters told me many men and women in that age group now think opening doors for women is DIS-respectful to women.

Anyway .. world's changin', and that's cool by me, but on this one I guess that makes me a dinosaur. Feeling a tad guilty yes, but I ain't stoppin. :)
