Has2b road trip

That's why my '68 will be outfitted with a '69 hood and a.g. Setup along with a vintage set of six barrel carbs on a B engine intake.

Sounds cool and will look great Matt .. will be looking forward to some photo's on the Junkyard Dog thead. I'm assuming you are staying with the 68 grill. btw I never said I'd kick a 68 RR to the curb, just rank ordering them :)

Of course the '68 grill, I prefer it over the '69 as it has greater detail and is more interesting.

Thanks Has2be.... I dont think I am getting out there and you keep trying to bait the hook

I don't know what you mean... :eusa_whistle:

What a great trip.......did you have to do any work on the RR while on your journey? Those are beautiful mountain pictures. I haven't been in the Northwest yet......some day I will!

The trip was as trouble free as they come, other than some strong winds at times.

The car was not for me. It was a paid trip for me to inspect and retrieve the car.

The guy that bought it has been looking for a decent '70 Runner for a couple years. He is my age, 43/44 and recently had a run in with cancer, and he said if he beat it, he was going to buy a '70 Runner. He has now succeeded in both.

He already has me on the line to do some things in the future to it, like new bird decals with the dust stripes, new leaf springs, possibly a stronger running 440 etc. The 383 Mag is not numbers matching, but sounds really good with a Hemi grind Mopar cam, Headers and full 3" exhaust.

I think he will likely be satisfied with the 383, as he was a Pontiac guy in the past and drove a '69 GTO to school... :eusa_silenced:

A non oiginal 383 car begs for a 440

I would agree there, provided there is reason to replace the 383. If it runs great I wouldn't replace it and from the looks of the car it looks like most things are well sorted I'm guessing. But if it needed a rebuild the 440 has a lot more torque if both are standard stroke config and running same cam and heads.

I'm certain has2b knows all this but for general consumption

Things to consider if a swap is made.

- Existing headers may not fit the RB config in the B-Body depending on brand

- Exhaust header pipes will have to be modified to fit new angle

- AG Breather base plate will have to be changed to an RB one

- If trying to remain "correct" 383 HP and 440 HP used different carbs (kind of a who cares for most)

He's been waiting for an excuse to pull that one back out!
Carsten, in this order for the RRs, '68, '69 then '70.

When I was 16 and out looking for my first RR my preference was 69, 68, then distant 70. I bought a 70, then a 68. 32 years later pref is 70, 69, 68 ... 68 GTX could possibly inch out the 69 RR or GTX or be virtual dead heat. I love the 68 tail lights and side markers but not as big a fan of the 68 RR grill compared to the 69 and no AG option in 68.

That's why my '68 will be outfitted with a '69 hood and a.g. Setup along with a vintage set of six barrel carbs on a B engine intake.

I love them all but my preference is 68, 69, 70.

I too love the 68 tail lights and side markers but would want the 69 AG or 6 pack hood on it!

Very thorough of you Bryan!
I've had 2 1970 FK5 projects that I, along with a buddy or 2, have dragged down from the north country over the last couple years. The first was a 4spd, N96, hdtp RR that was white over burnt orange interior and the second was a Coronet R/T that was dbl FK5. And of course I have my dbl FK5 '70 Challenger 340 project that I really should start chipping away at in my free time...
great pics Has2b, thanks for taking us along for the ride!

Thanks Matt. Man you have/had some great cars Matt. Checked out your "new" (older post) garage in one of the threads over at the other site .. really cool. p.s. I've never seen a white car with FK5 interior .. bet that was a standout.

Thanks Bryan. white over burnt orange was the interior color, the car was FK5 with a white top.

The original 68 basic 2dr post with a manual trans, the way it was chosen as Motor Trend's car of the year wins hands down with me.
I have no experience with the 3x2bbls used on the RR, own a couple of European multi carbs and it's pretty challenging keeping them in good running condition, even with a car that has a set of NOS Webers on.
How's availability of rebuild kits and quality of the 6bbls from the RR ?

They are original Holleys from '69/'70 and the set I have is alleged to be ready to use from a good friend so at most they should just need some tuning to my engine. I figured since I was going with ag induction system from '69 why not use a 6 barrel set up too! This is my only car that I'm taking such liberties since it's not complete and original to begin with however it'll be all factory style.

For me it is 70,68,69

But the 68 has to be a plain jane, a coupe without decor package, no hood treatment etc.

here is my old 68 Hemi Runner, 4-sp
