After vetting the Champion guy at length and other gentle folks here and over on the dock, I've decided to take the plunge. Not having any overheating issues however I can see some additional very small weeping spots going on towards the bottom of the original unit. Its only been out once (me), probably has good deal of gunk in it and its ratty looking. Time for retirement. I think it will look rather nice.

Applaud me or rip me, the new one is on it's way. 4-5 days.

I was taught not to say anything at all if I didn't have anything nice to say...

If and when my car needs a radiator, my radiator of choice would be a Champion 3 row.
Only I'd paint it Satin Black. Damn it's ugly.

Keep us posted I am leaning that way for my charger and would value opinion on this board.
Sure thing.
Know that I bounced this around in my mind for months, popped the hood many a saturday chewing on if I should swap the original one (which I will be keeping) or not, re-read all the posts here and on the doc from guys who love theirs, gazed at the pictures...blah, blah, blah. Finally....it comes down to **** or get off the pot. Feel much better now, lol.

Its your car man, much of the original has gone out the window on your car so its fine. I myself do not like them but I am a purist

No, not most of it. There's still a boatload more original than there is not. I'll pretty much keep it a 60/40 or 70/30 split.

A friend has one in his 1971 Dodge van and has had no problems, I plan to put one in my other Polara but I'll keep the original for the purist that may buy the car down the road. I'm a purist on cars that I restore but my daily driver is free game.

Yeh, that topic has been beaten to death and back and death again here so I'm not even going there. Personal choice. I don't knock anyone who goes either way with it, UNLESS you show up here with 26" rims and neon lights underneath, then we got a problem. I like to improve a little bit on what the factory put out but you'll never see me do something ridiculous or has no purpose.

For those who want to look factory but still have aluminum...

The Aluminum dissipates heat better than a factory radiator. I dont think the price is outrageous at all

I put one of those Champion aluminum rads in my 48 Desoto....haven't had a chance to drive on the street with it yet. But it seems to be doing a good enough job so far.
