I learned something today

Nice, you should have stopped by, I was at work for a few hours this morning.

The photo above the fuel gauge is showing roofs to houses through the trees.........thats gotta be deleted.

Some of those roads I dont recognize, nice. I may head out tomorrow. I was thinking of taking 130 below the bridge and seeing whats down there below pennsville.

Good idea. Rt. 130 turns into Rt. 49 or something like that once you cross over Rt.295 at the base of the bridge. I've been down that road as far as the Walmart. What's after that I do not know.

In my younger days I worked as a temp setting up the shoe store in the WalMart shopping center. That is as far as I have been as well. Thats the point of all this though, to drive the car and see what is out there on country roads I have never been on

You are quite right. Your probably going to have to get out really early to not encounter any traffic headed that way. I think it might be a thoroughfare to the city of Salemn.

You could be right. dont want to go to Salem but turning left somewhere between there and the bridge and heading west should prove to be a nice route.

Well you did it, you made me look at Google maps and I didnt want to look at a map.....We'll see.I may want to take this weekend off. These 60 hour weeks are tough so I may take advantage of the two days off and just sit and perhaps play some pinochle.

lol, I did the same thing too, curious to see if I was right about going towards Salemn NJ. Gotta be honest, going out again tomorrow morning is very enticing. Would be great if a bunch of cars did that on a semi-regular basis. Take a cruise, then at the end chomp down some chow at a diner somewhere afterwards. Diners are everywhere in south jersey.

I, along with some other Mopar guys used to participate in a poker run geared mostly toward bikes. We drove all over s. Jersey stopping at different establishments to pick your card. I learned to dislike it. I didnt like having to stick with the crew or the route.
A great place to wind up is Harpoon Henrys in Cape May County . A nice roadside bar and grille over looking the Delaware bay. It is just above the Ferry boat location. But you gotta plan to be there towards sunset , need I say more?

I don't like big runs either. You are always waiting around for the line to move. Traffic delays are rediculous and I would rather run with a few friends and go to a bar or other destination without a crowd.

Nope. Been there a few years ago on the way to the ferry ride (which was quite nice itself I thought). Guess there is no one "great" way to end up at the same place after long drives...and I agree I'd rather choose my route then follow a huge crowd...although I would not complain to much if I was following one or two other cars at the most.

Two Septembers ago well after labor day I planned a trip in the 71'. I took the wife and kids to the Berlin Farmers market to which the kids have never been to. Then down to Lucy the Elephant in Margate. My youngest daughter (then 11) loves elephants.......late afternoon we took the parkway down into cape may county and headed west to Henrys for dinner( their crab dip was out of sight). The parkway after season since it runs the coast line was a nice relaxing ride also. After Henrys and a walk along the bay line on the beach we headed home.

I gotta say, THAT my friend was the perfect day.

Indeed, it sure sounds that way.....VERY nice. My family (3 of us, lol) will do something like that this season once my wife clears the spring/summer semester. We drove out to Ocean city a few times last year. Ocean City is a great "family" oriented place to go.

My folks used to take us there when we were kids. Haven't been there recently, but from what I remember the crowds were not as large there than other public jersey shore beaches.

Bringing this thread back to life for anyone who cares. The weather in the Mid Atlantic the last two months has been amazing. Gorgeous , warm and dry... Because of that I have been hitting the county roads on the weekends and running the hell out of # two.

I know it isnt the western big states but we can still spread our wings......I hit the road at 540 am with the top up

I was busy with work around the house and other running around all day and the weather was warm and clear just perfect for a cruise. Finally put the tools away just as it was getting dark. Pulled Nessie out of the garage and it was a perfect top down cruise through town and back averaging 30 mph all the way. One of the most pleasant cruises I can recall. The Monaco is fun to drive and Polara is simply a pleasure. Two very different but complementary experiences.

A lot of open space out there, if you can get to it before the rest of the world does, its a great day
