I'll start the official Carlisle thread

Damn, carlisle is getting closer and closer and I'm feeling worse and worse that I can't go. I'm gonna be inconsolable those 4 days I just know it. I probably won't even look at my car. Would have been 3yrs in a row for me.

Gary, can't you sneak over to Carlisle just for Saturday?

I've been to most of them. Hung out mostly in the B & E area's with strolls through the rest of showfield. I started to get serious interest in C-bodies about 7 years ago and started a half-assed search for a car. But only been a showfield participant for the last 4 years (including this year) when I found my NYB.

I started going back in the late eighties. Used to do a day trip, leave in the wee hours and come back late. Those days are long gone.

I took a couple breaks and then took some time off from going that went along with my scaling back on the hobby. I went to Corvettes at Carlisle a while ago and got hooked again. I alternated between that and Chrysler for a couple years and then just Chryslers exclusively.

The first year for the Chryslers at Carlisle show was 1991

I must have been there when no one else was....

Seriously? I thought I was there about 1989 or so. The years run together....

I just looked it up... I really couldn't believe it. 1991 was the first year.

It just doesn't jive with my memory. I changed jobs in 1993 and I couldn't get Friday off to go there. I do remember that and I thought I'd gone for three or four years before that.

I must have started going there in 1991.

Perhaps you had gone to one of the other events... The spring and fall swaps started in the 70s... around 74 I believe.

Nope, never been to spring or fall Carlisle.

Maybe I'm thinking of Englishtown... When did they start doing the Mopar show there?

Holy smokes.............. Great question!! As long as I can remember, it used to be HUGE and the draw of the North east. It quickly died and had been through turmoil and left for dead. It is being run now by a group trying to resurrect it... SLOWLY coming back BUT I suppose that could be the one you are thinking of, mid eighties at least.

A must see race at E-Town is the "Showdown at E-Town" that's been running there for better than a decade. It is now called the Shakedown Nationals".

The Mopar show is in August....

Yeah, acres of parts, not since the 90's for the Mopar show. Same goes for the cars for sale. It is coming back but .....because of the bad rep it has been slow. Last year they did some F.A.S.T. cars
