Who sells "lefty" wheel studs? Looks like somebody has stripped some on my car, likely through a combination of lots of torque and ignorance. I have lots of extra LH nuts, but can't find mew studs anywhere.

Check with RockAuto.

New L studs are tough to locate but they are out there.
Best to search for used ones in nice condition. I bought a complete front brake drum to replace the "converted to right lugs" drum on my Polara. likely for the same reason you mentioned. Replace with new when located.

I'd check your local auto partz store that haz ah "DORMAM" bolt department. If they don't have them in stock they should be able to order them for you. Just be careful when you go to your tire store. Their's nobody working there that's old enough to remember left handed threadz on pre-71 Chrysler products. G.L. with it, Jer

Which is why I replaced the lefts on my stuff a long time ago.

I take all my Mopars to an old school mom and pops tire shop, where the graybeards behind the counter actually know what they're doing. I suppose previous owner wasn't as picky, LOL! I might have to bite the bullet and make it RH all the way, but won't give up just yet.

Here we go again!

Maybe I should just make this my avatar from now on??

@studs300 - don't mean to be a smartass, been doing exactly that for the past two days but the results that come back are for nuts even though the search term is for studs. Try it and see for yourself... The studs that do come up are either "no longer available" or "out of stock" when you inquire which is why I came here to ask. With all due respect, dude.

I'll give you some credit. Yes, there's lot of nuts, more so on Google then the Duck, you just have to filter through the crap you don't want, then blame Google! FWIW, I got mine through NAPA in Vacaville CA; but that doesn't do you any good. Good Luck

And what does that accomplish? Does it make you feel better?

No in the least, quite the contrary. I just don't like dealing with people on the web that can easily find stuff themselves, I did and still do to this day! BION, You'd have no idea and wouldn't believe that I'm the same person if you met me in real life!

OK guys: One purpose of my previous posts was that I was hoping to one day save somebody else some time calling around only to get "sorry, they're no longer available". If somebody knew the answer they would have to look no further than here. I did not mean to pick a fight or offend the fine sensibilities of anyone who assumed I'm too stupid to shop around and for whatever reason felt compelled to point it out.

So on that same note FWIW it seems that Dorman, NAPA, CarQuest, Advance, O'Reilly, RockAuto and Autozone no longer carry them for early cars. And a few more "specialists" same deal. Still they appear in the web searches, which is a bit annoying. Summit has some, but it looks like they're too long to fit under the hub caps. Just in case somebody else is looking EBay has indeed LH for Dodge trucks and Jeep, I don't know if that's different than for old Chrysler, but maybe somebody else know? I've sold my Dodge truck, but I want to remember the studs were beefier and had a different type of "head" than the dainty ones on the New Yorker.

Coker Tire showed up in my latest search, it seems you get different results on different days. (Probably has to do with tracking etc?) I have not called them yet, will do that tomorrow. Just PM me if anybody wants to know how that went.

I believe that.

Here's the thing... If something bothers you, just pass it by. Being negative hurts you more than anyone else.

Yea, I understand that it's frustrating but just let it go... Think positive and let go of the negative.

Hmm. Then why did you even bother to respond? Nobody asked you specifically to deal with me and my in your opinion stupid questions, that was your choice. Personally I would just have shrugged and moved on to the next post, but hey that's just me!

On most car forums there's "that guy" that always brings up Google etc. in a condescending and borderline rude way. (Talk about unnecessary posts!) Based on your first post I thought you were "that guy" on this forum, and please forgive me if I was wrong. Time will tell?

Sorry guys, my last post was unnecessary. Stubs300 let's just agree to disagree and make peace, OK?

How many do you need? I gave a few away when I convert to right handed threads. I think I still have a few. Mine are from my 66 300. I can look for them tomorrow.

FWIW, if the lh thread studs you find are too long, that's what a bench grinder and measuring stick is for. Provided the head is of the correct size and shape.

Remember, if you take your car to a repair shop, there are about three people between you and the person doing the work. Information does not always get relayed to THAT person, even if it's written on the repair order. THAT person might never have known the lh studs ever existed and might question that YOU know what you're talking about . . . until that first nut won't come off and then comes off with part of the stud still in it.

Otherwise, a good set of jack stands, a torque wrench, and a good jack will facilitate YOUR removing the wheels yourself, taking them to the tire shop, and then re-installing them yourself.

Now, for good measure, research WHY Chrysler did the "rh" and "lh" thread wheel studs. There's a bonafide reason they did that. Based on "engineering" AND to solve a problem in the earlier years of the corporation.

Your money, your decisions.

Enjoy!
