Looking at a Hellcat

I'm old enough to remember when now would be the appropriate time to discuss women drivers. I think the Saudis know what they are doing. Sorry about what happened. *****!

I really don't get the diesel thing. When I was drilling all these guys would go and brag about their big Ford power strokes and how much they spent blah blah blah. For what? When you figure out the costs, what are you really saving? The diesel option is usually around a 6k option. Then figure every time you do an oil change 2-1/2 gallons plus expensive *** filters every 3k miles, now there's DEF to worry about. Sheezus. The cost is nuts just to get a few more mpg? To me it's just not worth it. I wish I'd gotten a gas engine in my C5500. I get a wonderful 6 MPG. Would've been the same with gas but not incur all the costs for the extra oil filters and more expensive fuel!

You do know why Helen Keller couldn't drive?

There is certainly nothing not to like about the Chrysler 300, as even Consumer Reports, which characteristically disses most Chrysler products admits in its latest consumer satisfaction surveys that it is the top brand in the full size segment in consumer satisfaction and ranks in the top 10 of all vehicle makes. Contrast this with the Acura ILX which scored at the bottom of that survey.

Their words:

According to CR’s overall survey ranking of entire brands, only one FCA brand cracks the Top 10 for satisfaction, with co-namesake Chrysler scoring the No. 8 spot, with 73% of owners willing to buy the brand in the future.

Yeah, the Hellcat would be fun, but probably not worth the money in your case.

LOL... if it was up to CR, Chrysler would have been out of business back in the 70's!
Those M....F...ers, never had a good word to say about any Mopars. Every mopar that rolled off the lot was a pile of crap! But boy the Vega and Pinto were the best cars ever built!
Thanks for reminding me, Steve of what pieces of crap we own according to CR anyway:rofl:

I hated that magazine when I was a kid and still do!

I was looking at Charger's and the 300C Platinum caught my eye. A lot better car in my opinion.

I like the 300 a lot. It is comfortable and handles well. It just doesn't have 707 hp. LOL. If the dollar numbers for the Hellcat and the 300 shifted enough....I would be driving the Hellcat. I thought there was a lot more margin to work with on the Hellcat. There is not much. I couldn't believe the loss of value on a car with 4,000 miles.
Bring the 300 to Hennessey and have him bump it up to 750 hp.

Up here the Rig boys more often then not filled up at the Rig with company diesel. Of course they needed positive air shutoffs in case of runaways if they were running diesel so some would go gas. At -40C they would idle their trucks for days straight rather than risk freezing them up so the fuel savings of diesel became important.

The Charger looks more bad *** with the right colors/trim, but the appointments in the 300C are definitely more premium and the 300C is still a good looker anyway - kind of timeless. I was actually comparing those 2018s at the Los Angeles Auto Show a little more than a month ago.

I'm standing right there with ya. CR has been tied to the Toyota Myth for many years. And they give an occasional nod to the Honda Accord in their "ratings." I always tell people who ask, CR is great, if yer looking at toasters and washing machines, but when it comes to cars, a Car & Driver road test is a much better evaluation tool.

The salesman (whom I bought my 300 and consider honest) said the 300 model was the best seller at his dealership. I believe him because I had all the insider info on my car from Graham when I negotiated for the car and he was straight up with me and didn't know I had the inside info on the car from Graham. I also see the inventory at this dealership almost daily when driving by and the 300's seem to be leaving there at a much faster rate than any other model.

Personally, I would not be interested in a modification kit from the aftermarket. I like the fact that Hellcats and other high performance vehicles from FCA come with good warranties. It is one thing to hop up a stock car, but it is another thing to engineer a really hot performance vehicle and know it will be abused and yet put a warranty behind it. A huge difference. Kudos to the powertrain engineers at FCA currently.

About a decade ago I put a clutch slave unit in a Viper (you pull the trans) built by one of the big tuners, I can't remember off the top which one. The blow proof bell housing was just wedged on top, not even bolted in. Many things were just not up to the grade that you would expect for that level of car. The intake was cobbled together for example.

Just took in a 2016 Hellcat Challenger in Go Mango with flat black hood and 6 speed. Less than 11000 kms only $55900 USD....just sayin Bob :)

Lucky Bastard just bought a Demon off of me... @300rag it's not a Charger and it's not Purple but....
