Looking at a Hellcat

That's what I'm talking about.

In all seriousness, what is holding you back from pulling the trigger? You have the funds, a place to put it and you aren't 18 years old so you won't wrap it around a pole. Am I missing something?

Plus you have the blessing of most of us here. What more do you need? :poke:

I've been looking for my first car, a 1969 Super Bee for a couple of decades now. Looking at CL, EBay, JSonline classifieds, Carlisle, etc. I may never come across that car again. My brother recommended that I get another 69 Super Bee even if it isn't the one that I had. I'm at a point in my life that I can have a Hellcat (with the 300 trade), or get a 69 Super Bee, or a 1973 340 Ralleye Challenger (my 2nd car), or get a reasonable Forward Look, or a shitload of Formal's. So I'm still undecided which way to go. I still have plenty of work to finish on both of my Formal's too.

If I had my choice between another classic or the Hellcat, I'd pick the Hellcat everyday and twice on Sunday. The classics are cool, but let's face reality. They are slow, needy and some are uncomfortable to drive. Plus, I don't think the Proving Grounds will let you park your leaky "new" classic at their facility.

I would say.... common sense....
This seems to be an "impulse" for Bob. Like finding a beautiful redhead that ends up just bitching all the time.
Bob has several other, more senseable, options available to him. He's a smart guy and I'll support him in whatever he decides to do.
Just adding a voice of reason.

This whole thing started out as "Looking at a Hellcat".

I'm not the guy that would impulse buy anything.

A lot of things would have to be worked out. Getting the Hellcat for the right price and getting the right price for my 300 would be a starting point.

I'm still undecided whether I want a Hellcat or one of the other options.

What is uncommon about the purchase? I guess I'm not seeing what is impulsive or unreasonable about it. If it was impulsive, he'd have the key fobs already and posting pics of his new ride. It seems like he is doing his due diligence in making a wise decision (for him). I don't think it is unreasonable at all. If he couldn't afford it, then I would call it unreasonable and irresponsible. If he were considering a six figure Ferrari and didn't have the means, I'd question his judgement but we are talking about a car he can afford and obviously wants. If he gets the car, great! If he doesn't get the car, great! It's all relative. A non car guy would scoff at the money you are investing in your Fury and call it unreasonable and a poor allocation of funds. Would that stop you from restoring it?

Bob. Not long ago you were dreaming about your upcoming retirement and traveling out west with your NYB and a camper. Is that gone...? I was looking forward to joining up with you for a trip like that.
Can't tow much with a Hell Cat, Not great to travel in either.

And here is one other thing to consider: If Bob drives the HellCat to Carlisle, he can't park it with our C-Bodies. . . :poke:

A very good point. I stand corrected. Bob and I both, (as well as most folks here), are motivated more from passion then impulse.
The added motivation for me is acting in Ellies memory. I'm also not going into debt and will end up with a safe, appreciating, investment, not like a Hell Cat which will never be worth it's purchase price again. Even a non car guy can appreciate that.

But, as I said, I will support Bobs decision and be happy for him no matter what.

The Formal's aren't going anywhere. I have a new 300 and was looking at a trade for a Hellcat.

As I'm getting closer to retirement, I've been planning on how I'm going to rebuild the engine for the NYB before making anymore major trips. With doing all of the machine work and adding up the cost for all of the parts I may be better off to buy an engine (with 9.5 to 1 pistons and a cam to my specs) and have a warranty.

Bob, I would not be angry at all if you got one of these. :D

I hear where you are coming from but even our passions do not result in an appreciating investment. The car hobby is full of tales where the ends did not justify the means. Just because debt is out of the equation, doesn't mean you aren't upside down.

I also think Bob would not make a decision that would seriously affect other aspects of his life. It seems if he decides to move on the car, it would have to be a lateral move. Smart.

YEAH.......... An A12 car may not be as fast, but it will get at least as much attention and respect as a Hell Cat. Probably cost as much though.

If you want it, and think this is what you can be happy with, I'd go for it. I you already decided, I wouldn't consider it an impulse buy. More so, if the payments are close to the monthly on your 300, IMO that's a no brainer.
There's a place an time we all commit to our classic cars, seasons permitting, and they will always be preserved and well taken care of, but nothing quite beats blowing the doors off anything else on the road and not worrying about something breaking.
I've been contemplating getting rid of my 300 for the 392 Chally Scat Pak shaker with a stick maybe in the spring.

Graham, what is the dealer cost on it.....

Hey Bob here is the Canadian invoice for that Hellcat. Unfortunately I can only pull it in CDN $$ but using the margin calculation of 7.5% your invoice should net out including the holdback around $69500 less any current incentives being offered. For instance we have $1000 christmas money. If Carmine gets you a friends & family control number the Dealer would receive an additional 2% of invoice back so approximately $1400 so Dead cost to the Dealer after the rebates etc would be approximately $67000 plus taxes. There may be a Military discount but it couldn’t be combined with a friends program. PM me for more info if you like. I downloaded the modern broadcast sheet on it if you want it. Good Luck!

Us Canadians are paying 13% more on an exhange rate of 28% so we are actually getting a better deal than the Americans. At $75495 USD ours should be $96600 CDN reversely you would pay $60800 USD for a Canadian Hellcat at $1.28 exchange at my store on the friends program...just sayin :)

Just curious. Do the cars sold in Canada meet US Emissions Standards?
