I think we may have hijacked @ayilar's original Medina post.
I did some asking of a free Ai and received this answer. I was thinking along the same as the Ai.
To determine if the Kia AE2 (Alien II Pearl Metallic) is close enough to the 1971 Chrysler GJ4 (April Green Metallic) to be considered a substitute, we can analyze their color characteristics and applications.

Just to clarify this Kia color is a starting point not an exact match to the Chrysler color. It needs to be tinted to be an acceptable match. The toners and tints that are used today are very different than the ones used in old technology paint that was used at the factory so even a perfect color match is going to be more vibrant and maybe more brilliant.

For Medina, it took a number of tries to get the GY9 to match. Luckily @azblackhemi found several unblemished and non-faded color parts on Medina that could be matched. Luckily @saforwardlook is in similar shoes and plans to proceed accordingly.

I think this would be a positive, as I observed how Medina's new coat was scintillating in the PA sun just a couple months ago.
Both myself and a good friend of mine did consider this but the original color already is scintillating quite a bit in sunlight and increasing it further would just be too high. We are adjusting the fine metallics to make it shine in the sunlight just like the original color. Nonetheless, thanks for the input.

I had my paint guy mix a sample of the Kia color and I did a spray out. I'm going to mail it to Steve so he can compare it to his color selector chip and to the car itself. Then we can go from there depending how it compares. The metallic is very fine so that's encouraging.
