My 440 GT boils after I switch the engine off

This also. It took me about a week or so to get it at the right level. My car didn't run hot, just puked out coolant when I shut it off. I'd try that before taking everything apart. I hate doing that once it's all together.
The fact that there is no coolant after puking yesterday afternoon, not even in the radiator hose tells me its more than coolant level. It looks like I lost almost two gallons of coolant.

if it's boiling over with no thermostat, it's a lot more than an overflow bottle issue. this thing's not circulating through the engine. heat gun would show up cold spots in the radiator if it were blocked anywhere.

Yeah that's different than what I was thinking.

I'm with Jeff on this one, what percentage of coolant to water are you running? Also, when you were checking w the thermo gun did you see if either bank has any unusual hot or cool spots?

If I turn mine off after a fast paced hyway run it pukes everywhere. Have you tried running at a slow speed for a few minutes before you shut it down? Mine needs a cooldown

The 1966 FSM instructs folk to fill the radiator to 1.25" below the filler neck seat:

I get the best cooling when I follow this.

Could your problem be as simple as having a pocket of air in the cooling system? This would cause the symptoms that you have. Let the car run for a half hour or so with the radiator cap off to let the system "burp" itself. Just a thought.

I got the radiator back today, had them pop the tanks, rod it and acid dip the core. $75. I put it in he car, topped off the fluid and took her for a drive. Did about 15 miles driving around the side streets and some cruising then pulled up in the driveway and broke out the thermal gun. Measured at 174.5 degrees, nice. And when I shut it down, it went up to 182 degrees. So, overheating problem solved and now I can tweak it. BUT, now it is missing on one cylinder, grrrr.

I'm glad you got the overheating squared away and for a reasonable price.

Mighty fine, Gary! Sorry about the missing issue.

Gary: Does this mean we are finally gonna see you and the 440 GT at Carlisle this year ?

Just keep yer foot out of the secondaries, and you should be good. . .
Do you know when I pass a car on the highway, without even flooring it, it will chirp the tires in all gears? I have to be careful, they are brand new tires!
