My driveway with four cars parked in it easily. Then the driveway across the court that has looked like that for years. Woman in her later 60's with a son in his later 30's who maybe a little challenged mental but seemingly nice. Problem is they also have seven dogs which are running loose at times. At least till last week when the neighbor called police and they were out to talk to the son.
The week previous I was working on a car, on the far side of the driveway, and while walking back and forth stepped in dog poop that I didn't know was there. I walked into the garage, back out to the car, started working again with a ratchet off the ground, and noticed poop on the tool and my hand. Ballistic!! Had to waste time cleaning the garage, the tool, my boots and the side yard. Next day my son says Dad look at all the dogs on the front lawn. I rush out, grabbing boots and shoes at the front door and start flinging them at the dogs. They get semi-aggressive and come towards me and I charge them picking up the boots and hitting them in the face now. The son comes out trying to get the dogs away as I am pissed. Yell at him I'll kill the damn dog with my bare hands if it gets near enough. He later spends an hour cleaning dog poop off all the lawns in the court. Next week the police are out.
Speaking of cars the early Chief Engineer of the Hornet was a retired Navy Commander who was Engineering aboard several different carriers. Interesting guy who thought Oldsmobile between 1950 to about 1965 were the best cars ever. Also liked to collect large scale train engines. He lived aboard the Hornet while having a house down in San Diego County. Not married which becomes apparent when you learn he had 50 Oldsmobiles parked in his back yard out in Lemon Grove. Kitchen sink more of a parts washer than a kitchen sink. Things went quietly for years and years as there was a tall fence around the property but then Lemon Grove was evolving. I remember it from the early 70's. Soon someone complained and the County District Attorney gave him an ultimatum about getting rid of the cars. Actually it was a junk yard and quite clear the "I am going to restore them" was never gonna happen. He also had a hard time considering anyone worthy enough to buy one. Anyway he lost the battle and the cars got scattered around California at friend's places and God knows what else. With that he finally got married in his early 70's for the first time and settled in the Salinas region.
