Scenicruisin'..?

I'll go with Dave on the 11RX22.5s. TWO thingz I'll add. When you start thinking used, ask yourself if you'd wear a ah $10 dollar helmet to protect your head if you were racing. #2 iz: Ah company I pulled for for 16 yearz was so tight they squeaked. They did study's on Steer Tires AND Drive Tires and they were buying 40' Container loads of Michelin's tho' different Tires front and back. They kept buying the Drive Tires from a crossed the pond but found that they were averaging 35% to 40% longer ware on the Steer Tires crossed the fleet of a bit over 100 tractors in all the Provence's and the contiguous 48 states with Bridgestone's on the Steer axle. And all those tractors were averaging between 70K and 85K a year and we had assigned rigs. We didn't slip set them at all, Jer

OH MY, That would raise h##l with my HOA, HUMMMM, Might be worth it? Chris, Are you old enough to remember what the MPG waz on ah 12V92 or even an 8V92? lol

Well Jer when I started working for Phoenix Transit in '89 we still had a bunch of 8V92's in our old Flex's, AM Generals and the first Generation RTS's. I think they got around 4MPG's if my memory serves. I do remember they screamed like a bat out of hell. They accelerated very quickly compared to everything that followed.

Chris .. thanks. She's got character .. and i am also a sucker for "Silversides" .. and price is right even if i need to transport it 2000 miles.

I might have to come down there first week of Jan 2019.

I kinda recognize it as we've had this style in this thread, but I will have to identify this coach (exact year, brand, etc) .. anybody know? ... for the Whisperer.

Will try calling Seller on it in the meantime later today or tmrow.

Ray

Did you have any luck inspecting that other bus or was it no good?

yes. azblackhemi gave me a reliable reference and i got a good basic inspection of the '61 Crown at sellers location.

coach remains UN-STREETABLE due to a myriad of mechanical and licensing issues. seller and i keep in touch but im not sure how itll turn out.

thx for asking! :)

Bus Stop Classic: ACF-Brill IC 41 – Silver Screen Standout. Hey it's got a hemi!
But what made this coach a stand-out – and what ultimately led to its downfall, was its engine – the great Hall-Scott Model 190 – an OHC hemi-head 779 cu in horizontal 6 cylinder gas fueled power house making 240 hp and a locomotive-like 600 lb.ft. at 1000 rpm. ACF had purchased Hall-Scott in 1925 and used its engines in all of its models. With this engine, these coaches could reach 80 mph – much faster than the 6-71 diesel-engined GM Silversides models. In fact, stories abound of IC 41’s departing bus terminals after GM’s, and then passing them on the highway – to the delight of passengers. Hall-Scott really deserves its own post as it was an innovative company that made some memorable power plants.

"its got a Hemi" .. wouldnt that be something.

i wouldnt be diggin' the 2-3 mpg thing, but the 600 ft. lbs of torque brings a smile to my face.

i'll report back after seller and Whisperer have weighed in.

Thanks.
