Terrible 1956 Imperial dilemma

Perhaps the rest of the moparts community should be made aware so that at least they don't bid up a fraudulent auction....

Hey.... Nobody HAS to bid..... Someone may think the car is worth more and bid.... Although it's not likely... still their business.

[/QUOTE]

Nobody has to buy gas on Memorial day when the prices are hiked up for no other reason than it's Memorial day. Doesn't mean it's any less bullshit. I don't see how an artificially inflated price on car benefits anyone other than the consignor and/or seller. Not so sure if it benefits the seller. If this guy is willing to screw bidders he's probably willing to screw the seller too.

I'm not even registered. That kind of business is beyound me, not the oriental bazaar type.

Hey Stan there's another bid. Whats up with that?
I don't know. I'll find out in the morning.
Apparently that $10,100.00 bid is legit.
The guy currently owns two other 1956 Imps!
Now Lance is kicking himself non-stop for not buying it at 6 grand and doing a quick flip and making a fast $4k.
I am, too.
That's why I never was successful in the car biz....:BangHead:

PLUS...
Here I was thinking that leaving the bid on there from the non-legit buyer was a stupid move.
How it ultimately plays out will remain to be seen, I guess.

I was kind of thinking I would be in a position to say "I told you so" on this one.
i was sitting back in silent disbelief that you didn't grab that car for the 6K.

You are right. And anybody else that thought it.
I'm a total woose.
But, I sleep well at night. I didn't LOSE $4k. I simply didn't MAKE $4k...

If it has been sitting a while -- you will probably need all the brakes for that car -- and I have everything NEW -- the master cylinder, the six (Yes, six!!) wheel cylinders (Upper & lower "halfsies" in the front), brake hoses, brake shoes, bearings & seals, front (only) emergency brake cable, and emergency brake drum brake shoes.....
Have you got the return springs....? All else is easy to locate.

Looks like the same spammer is bidding it up. Should've blocked the a$$hat scum bag.

Guess what. Now I've got a German guy talking to me about my car. He is asking me a lot of questions about my car.
But he says he takes his time in as much as he only checks his email once every cupla weeks...

Anyway, looks the owner of two other 56's dropped out at $13k.
Man, my butt is beginning to hurt. :icon_scratch:

That could have been one heckuva pay day, $13,101 w/a half hour left.

Anybody interested in an update?

The top bidder was a total scammer.
The second highest bidder was phony.
The third highest bidder said he was no longer interested because he felt the auction was shilled.
That left the last bid at $2,550.00

So, Lance went to pick up the Imperial to drive it around a bit and see what was needed thinking he might buy it.
Driving it, the car over heated, the front end was shaking so bad he couldn't get it over 45 mph, and went to stop and a brake line blew, lost his brakes and drove through on of those automatic security gates to a parking lot to the the tune of $2,000.00

I ain't saying anything.....:sideways tongue:
:rolling:

And the German who wanted to buy my car?
$5,500 was his last and final offer because getting it over there would have brought it to $10k, his limit.

Maybe now he'll come off the 6K. !

Those cars don't come around very often in nice shape. If you have the means then I would recommend you go for it. It's a no lose bargain.

I'd be really happy to own it.

I will stick to that...! It was a bargain at 6K before some moron decided to take a 55 year old car out for a drive before inspecting it.
