The Bluesmobile

After Andrew you could tell which roofs had the correct clips cuz the plywood was still there. The sheets of plywood with no clips became missiles. It was pretty embarrassing for the building officials.

I don't know how tough the building codes are in Maryland. My house was built in 1996 and we had some huge storms and hurricanes come pretty close to my area. I never had any significant damage other than flying debris or trees coming down.

Blues Brothers is playing on HBO Comedy right now. Seems like a pretty good way to kill a couple hours.

I was wrong the other day. The Blues Bros. is another movie I could watch over and over again.

"THE GIRL!! HOW MUCH YOU WANT FOR THE GIRL??"

It was great. The music is awesome.

My favorite part is how they pile up 20 cop cars in a wreck like the cops are dipshits.

Sorry guys, been away from the computer a bit. Still had the phone to read from though..

Just awesome.

The palm trees in the picture really piss me off though. We've had fifteen inches of snow so far this year....

thanks man! I am enjoying the 70 degree weather we have been having lately lol. Even took the car to its first car show this year... Still wierd getting used to going in January... Do you still have snow? The folks in MI said rain came and melted it all away, and was in the 50's the other day.

I admire your passion and attention to detail! Good Job!!!

Thanks Bob!!

The penguin is the part I like, after that? Yawn.

both 2 of probably the best scenes in the movie. I love the penguin part. I can agree with dave a little. Typical movie of the era, long a drawn out. but still love watching it. After a while though, usually fast forward to all the car action. Still enjoy seeing it though, If I havnt in a while.

A big shout out to Ross! Thank you man!!! Picked up my cop motor, a four hundred and forty cubic inch plant! I got Ross' 440 out of his red imperial. It will find a new home in the bluesmobile soon. Also got to see his nice collection of cars as well.

I'm on vacation at the moment. Up north visiting the folks. Can't wait to get the engine back and start tinkering with it! I'll start a new thread for that.

Thank you again Ross! Great getting to meet you, and see the toys! Hopefully see you again soon!

Glad for it to have a good home. Nice to meet you, Zac. Maybe I'll see you at Carlisle.

Zac, I'm happy things are starting to come together for your BB build. Do you have a big block subframe for it?

Ross, good job helping out a fellow FCBO brother!

:yourock:

As mentioned in the other thread, have a trip up north to MI coming up the first week of September. Waited too long to get plane tickets.. I'm not spending $850 to fly up there for a week... So gotta drive now. Got to thinking, why not take the car?? It gets better MPG's then the truck. Be a hell of a lot more fun. Plus cruise in comfort.. Other then not having A/C. But she needs some work.. Plus didn't really wanna spend $$ to fix stuff for the small block, with the big block going in.. But... WTH!

Pulled the trans out last night. What fun! After 6 hours under the car, got it out. Dropped the tranny off at a buddies shop. The damn convertor hub had a crack in it! Only 2 years old.. He'll be pulling the front apart to replace the seals, and everything, along with a new converter. Will be picking it up tomarrow after work, and hopefully reinstalling.

The front right brake was sticking, so picked up a new caliper. I had the whole brake system gone through a few years ago, the flex hoses, and everything else seemed to be in good shape.

The starter was getting pretty weak. Took a trip up to the wrecking yard hoping to get a cheap mini starter. They didn't have any, but had a direct replacement out of an 85 dippy. We'll see how it works.

Hopefully the car will be good to go after all this, and an oil change. Really looking forward to getting out on the highway with her. These cars are built for it!

Did a little roaming around at the junk yard. They had a few mopars out back. All of em too gone to do anything with...

This was my favorite! Would love to drag this home! Way to much rust though..

Don't you dare drive through Columbus without stopping to show me your car.

Thanks guys

Ross shoot me a PM with your phone #. I was thinking of looking you up! It would be sunday the first during the morning/ealry afternoon... Dont expect.much! She really is an old **** box dodge! Haha.

Nick i wasnt thinking.. Did really look at it, but it was pretty picked over. What you looking for? I can go take a look if you want..

The real fun begins.

Heard, and felt a nice little "crunch" while on the road trip. Discovered this tonight.

So time for some proper metal work. Need to tackle the floorboard obviously. Also rocker panels, rear wheel wells, quarter panels, and the infamous formal trunk pockets. Along with other little spots here and there. This has got to be the rustiest formal attempted to be saved. I need you Nick!

Found another destroyed build sheet under the carpet. Damnit!

Luckily, it seems like I've gotten to the floor just in time, as the passenger side still seems solid. Doesnt look like it would have been much longer...

After a little cleaning up..

This will be my first time really attempting metal work on my own. Any tips appreciated!

What do you guys think of this welder? Think I can get away using just the flux core? Or should I just set it up for mig?

Would recommend MIG/MAG, you get better welds that need no or less afterwork and generally a higher strengh, especially when you are a beginner. Generally it is pretty cruicial with all these mentioned welding processes you have a very clean surface to start with to get good results.
