You probably know that the tag tells us the car is equipped with the 318 engine AB41 and a torqueflite automatic C5, economy 2watt AM radio R1, and black convertible top Y1.

If I'm reading the SO number correctly, the body was framed November 30 1965. What will be very interesting to me is to see if other Windsor built 880 convertibles show up on the site and have the same or close by body build dates. A number of years ago I got inquiries from several Monaco convertible owners and all of their cars seemed to have been batch built in either April or May of 1966 (can't recall offhand which it was). So I'm wondering if the 880 converts were batch built as well. Quite often cars that varied noticeably from what the assembly line usually built, were run together, so that the guys on the line could literally practice building them. Building the odd one here and there was not only a PITA for the guys on the line who would be scratching their heads to remember how they went together, it would also have meant that most of them hit most if not all of the repair bays along the line for the same reason.

Were there any remnants of a built sheet in the car? Because your car has what I would call the "basic" amenities, I'm wondering if it was a stock order car, placed either by a dealer, or maybe even spec'd out by Chrysler itself so that the zone reps could push them onto the dealers? I knew a zone rep in 1975 when the Cordoba first came out. It was selling like hotcakes and the dealers were frantic to get their hands on every unit they could. This fellow milked the dealers for all they were worth, often times getting them to take 3-4 "B" body sedans for every Cordoba he'd give them.

Will you have your car sorted out enough to bring it to Moparfest this year?

Wow... I learned how to read a body tag today!
Thanks guys!

There is no trace of a build sheet so far but i have not pulled the carpet up.
It has been replaced in the past so I am doubtful it still exists.

I haven't really gone looking for one either :)

I concentrated on wiring tonight...
It's still in spaghetti mode near the firewall block but in new condition now

I have used 10g wiring to charge the battery and plan to bypass the firewall block.

I am presuming i still need to run a hot wire into the cabin to power all the interior needs.

(Which I have now done)

I'm sure planning to have it on the road in the next few weeks.

I don't plan on Moparfest this year but may be next year.

I found I became really bored really quickly last year with all the B, D & E bodies.. so many of them....

I made a point of searching out all the odd Mopars, DeSoto's, and other really rare cars.

I bought ticks for the 50/50 and had the wonderful time of waiting for over an hour just to get out of the parking lot! LOL!!

I finally snuck out the back service entrance once I saw a police car using it.
I followed him out much to the protesting of my wife.
But we got out!
:D

I take it you are going?

That's our plan. We have a wedding in Rochester NY on the Friday night so will drive back to New Hamburg Saturday morning, stay the night and come home Sunday.

Shouldn't the rad yoke be painted body colour, with the area immediately behind the grille rather crudely sprayed black?

I took the evening off last night as my lovely wife is getting ready to set out on a 10 day trip to see our daughter in the USA.

I will miss her but I will take the opportunity to reflect on how much i can concenrate on the vert to hopefully have it ready by the time she returns home!

Just have to install the following:

Front suspension
brakes on all 4 corners
bleed the brakes
Paint the inner fenders
fit the front clip
get my gauges working properly
assemble some of the interior
install new seat belts...

I have a lot of work to do.... :D

I got started on the suspension and front brakes last night..

Typical boring stuff just cleaned up & looking closer to new.. :)

I installed a pair of new Sachs gas shocks along with the MOOG strut bushings.

I am fortunate to have a machine shop available to me as the strut bushing sleeves were toast.

I had a pair made from stainless. I didn't think to take a pic of them before installing the bushings..

I also installed all new bushings upper & lower.

The ball joints on top were new and the lowers in great condition less one torn grease boot.
I managed to find one in my pile of spares that was a good donor..

A new Idler arm added as well.

PLUS a full set of upper & lower rubber baby bumpers for the conrtol arms too!

Looking good, I hope you can get a lot done in your wife's absence, what usually happens to me is the best laid plans tend not to go as planned. best of luck

I'm in awe. If we do connect at a show, please don't park close to me...I wouldn't want to get drool all over your beauty:thumbsup:

LOL!! no worries, I can grab some bibs from the local Red Lobster!!

Believe me when I say this, it is going to be a very cleaned up driver, no show queen ever unless I win the lotto then dip it in a bucket of Brand new everything!

I will allow only the front to be displayed as the under carriage in the rear is in need of a lot of TLC but that will be next winters' project.

You're creating a big cruiser that will ride as intended, go where you point it, stop when you want and produce and ear to ear grin on your face. I will certainly keep an eye out for you at New Hamburg.
