What a Rush

Checking in for updates.
How goes it Mr. H?

It’s been busy here, but not regarding Rush. Yesterday was the ms’ birthday so we went to dinner after work.

Regarding Rush, I’m waiting for the mail. The low- mount alternator bracket should be here Thursday. It’s needed to mount both the alternator and the crank trigger pickup. I am still flabbergasted by the fact that MSD has a continuing problem with reluctor oxidation. It’s probably due, at its core, to a regulatory burden on chromate use. I don’t know but there sure seem to be many cases of it on various sites - even their own support forum. Their answer is that it’s due to condensation after heat cycles and to drill more vent holes in the cap but this sucker has never been heated. It was frosty when fresh out of the box. It’s evidently a plating process that’s just not well controlled.

So, with luck I’ll be firing it up this weekend. Honest!

It’s been a productive day. One step forward. I combined the mounts to make one that may, eventually, allow for an alternator.

They were designed differently. I’m not going to let that slow me down - much.

I pressed the pin out and cut a slot to fit bushings on the 1/4-20 cap screws.
Some copper anti-seize and we’re good.

However, the alternator won’t quite fit as mounted. The MSD flying magnet pickup is long enough to interfere with the alternator body. That’s alright.

Two steps back..

Dylan has video. In a word:

WICKED!

I’ve some minor leaks to tend to. It’s going to take some serious AFR tuning. It still leans out badly. But, I’m closing in on it.

A cop stopped to let me know that my loving neighbors have noticed. We had a good chat. He says to only make noise during the proper hours and he has nothing to say about it. He was giddy like I was. We have some decent cops here in Dallas nowadays.

Here’s the installed crank trigger:

Here it is folks :D
Not the first start but shortly after. I'll post some more vids later if wanted. I can't wait to get home and piss off some neighbors (more).
Mom tried her best on the camera. Hope you guys like it.

Awesome, it's alive..... No pressure but when do we get to see it under it's own power? Maybe a little burnout also:D

We’re going to put some attention to a few leaks and strap down the fuel cell. One thing for certain:
This car is absolutely NOT streetable.

Sweet! I need people like you around to kick me in the *** to get my projects moving along. I like the cop who stopped by, we need more of those guys and gals, everywhere. As for the neighbors, if I lived on your street, and hadn't of already met you, the sound of that car would have brought me over with a 6 pack, for a proper introduction.

I changed a leaking rocker arm cover gasket today. It got kinked and a spring chewed on it a little.

One step forward..

..making progress!

The black ones that I’m replacing the cork with are good metal-filled (for shape memory) silicone gaskets. I don’t know where Dylan got them but they are quite nice.

Thanks for the heads-up. That’s going into my quasi-permanent records.
