What did you do to your C-body today....

Easy to defeat... Hacksaw to the steering wheel.
Exactly!
Perfectly good way to ruin a steering wheel.

I don't think the jerk stealing your car really give a hoot about that.

I don't worry about anyone stealing my cars. That's what they make insurance for. I've got a lot more things on my plate then worrying about that. It'd make me insane if I started to worry about theftt! LOL

Considering one of my cars has never been locked since I've owned it, I got over being super worried about it, or anything I leave in it. If they want it that bad, they will get it no matter what I do. Course I don't want anyone to take it!

Are you talking the metal clip in the inner door panel itself? I may have one that'll work for you. Hey, how's about bringing that little tool along with you?
Yes and yes
The inner clip that fits in the door panel. And yes I have the wire tool in my car with my wrist bands.
Thanks

It really comes down to the fact that if someone wants your car, they're taking your car. It's not going to be some joy riding teenagers, it's going to be someone with a quiet tow truck that's done it a time or two. The car will disappear and either end up in pieces or in a shipping container headed to some other country. There's not much you are going to do about it.

I lock the doors in my convertible, but really, a couple seconds with a utility knife will give you access.

Little story for you John.... leave it unlocked! I had just traded my '79 Trail Duster on a brand new '82 LeBaron Convertible. Of course, back then you factory radios were retardedly expensive, so I put in a very nice Pioneer stereo in.
I had a locksmith friend of mine install a real nice burglar alarm after that. I was still living at home so I had to park my car in the driveway. Well one of the local delinquents wanted my radio. Of course the car was locked and the alarm set... after he tried the doors, he proceeded to slash the roof open with a razor knife, only to pop the door and the alarm went off instantly. He took off and the cops were there pretty quick but the damage was done. Big *** hole in the roof, radio in tact.
After that.. never locked it, just set the alarm.

I'm always reminded of the customer's car at my friend's shop.

The customer was having a hard time coming up with payment, so the car stayed there, but couldn't sit inside because of space. One night, someone broke the passenger window out to steal the stereo. The passenger window got covered with plastic and with no room and no pay, it was still outside.

Someone else must have had their eye on the stereo because the next night, the car was broken into again. They pried the drivers door open, effectively destroying the quarter and door. No stereo though... It was already gone. They didn't look... and they really didn't look at the passenger side where there was just a sheet of plastic.

Lesson is crooks are stupid.

My car doesn't sit outside overnight except at the hotel for Carlisle. Could the top get slashed there? I suppose so. It would attract some attention in a well lit parking lot though. I would be more worried about someone opening the door and snatching Mrs. Big John's handicap tag though. Those are a high theft item these days.

Installed a cup holder. $4.99 at AutoZone painted it with my leftover Aztec Maroon Suede dash paint and added some Velcro to the bottom.
Also loaded my trunk for Mopars in the Park.

Swapped radiators and installed my alternator. Had to swap pulleys to make it all work. Not right, but working.

I hope you made it to Mopars at the Park!
My strut arm made it from Murray Park today, so after soaking the strut arm in K&W and getting the bushing tube off, I covered it with rags, stuffed it in trash bag, and poured Apple Cider Vinegar all over the rags and closed up the bag.

Then I cleaned and painted the new front drums for the Polara.

Also drove the Polara across town to eat lunch.

Transported building materials all day for my bar build. Took Bev out for some highway time. Damn fine to be doing that again.
Cooling down in the driveway:

Washed and clay barred the 300 today. While I liked the Beadmaker finish I put on the car a couple weeks ago, I discovered that I had streaked it in the center of the deck lid. I couldn't seem to get it right, so I decided it was time to clean it all up anyway.

The plan was to wash, clay bar and wax... That was the plan anyway... Got the first two done and decided that I wasn't going to have time to wax it too, so it went into the garage... And I hate to say what happened next....

I drove in against the wheel chock I have set up and apparently the car rolled back about 6". I had some other stuff on my mind and just didn't notice. I brought the garage door down and... Crap.... The handle scraped the deck lid by the lock. After turning the air blue, I got a better look at it and at least it didn't go through the brown. The damage was only to the clear coat.

I was too annoyed with myself to take a picture of the damage... After I took a deep breath, I started fixing the clear coat. I think it will come out OK. Wet sand and buff tomorrow and we'll see.

Parked mine on the corner of my street and the main drag, with for sale signs on it. Back in the garage for the night now. I've had some interest, but nothing serious yet.

Thanks to a faulty sending unit or gas gauge, I did the walk of shame. Actually a triple walk. No wallet, no gas can...

I hope you made it to Mopars at the Park!
I'm going tomorrow, today I put new tires on the car and had my mechanic fix my carb. Good enough to get me down the road, but not ready for the racetrack. Goes back Monday to get a cleaning and the rest of the parts from the kit it may need.
