Lol, no point, it's wasted as it is, broken perishing and flaky.I would have removed the W.S. washer reservoir first...

So I finally got the bottom end apart this afternoon and pulled the crank, it is shiny and pristine like the rest and everything is standard size too. I'm going to give it a linish and put it back in Also the bore has no lip to speak of and I will hone that and see how it looks. If that comes up looking great too, then I will put the original pistons back in. Amazing this engine has 98K miles on it! Look at that bore, no lip after the carbon is removed, very nice.

? I did and linished it too.Working on an engine is a delightful task when you don't have to pull the crank. ☺
Damn. Missed that part. Oh, well. Jolly good job. Carry on, lad.? I did and linished it too.
Don't ever let me get away with saying you airplane guys can't survive on flat rate... You sir are kicking ***. I am looking forward to seeing (at least in pictures) this one on the road again as much as I am Critter's beauty. For a car I didn't even know existed a year ago... I have become a big fan.Lastly I got stuck into the engine block, honed it out and was satisfied with the result so I cleaned it out and got the assembly parts ready. Knocked out all the welsh plugs and replaced them. Also got the crank back in then the pistons and timing gear too. Put the oil pump pickup in.View attachment 75337 View attachment 75338
Tomorrow I should have the sump pan back on and timing cover in place. I have to check one head for a sticky valve and make sure they are good to go after a cleaning, but at this rate I could have it all back together by the end of the week. I am also waiting for a new set of pushrods to arrive too.
Ooohhhhh, I will never get used to yanks talk...
