Thanks Scott. Open Headlight Grills are far better wall art than Picasso or that Van Gogh guy, who cut his ear off. Easier to understand too.

Upper Bumper Brackets
· place bracket under the hood bumper extension. Install mounting screw through extension into clip. Leave loose.
· Install 2nd mounting screw into back of chrome bumper. 7/16 short socket, 3/8 stub ratchet.
· Tighten first mounting screw at hood bumper extension, 7/16 short socket, 3 inch extension, 3/8 stub ratchet

Grill Motor (rebuild $270 Jeff Wood, TX) & Mounting Bracket. Jeff said not to bench test motor, so I still don't know if it works.
Grill Motor installed on bracket
Grill motor rod: the rod is bent in a crescent shape. The ends of the crescent face rear, and the arc of the crescent faces forward. Shorter side of rod goes on right side of grill motor. Slide rod through grill motor.
Grill motor, rod, bracket, install as assembly: Installed the 2 mounting bolts. The mounting bracket does not use the slots in the center vertical support for the hood latch. It uses the topmost circular hole and then the hole that matches that at the bottom of the bracket. Install the bolts from the left side, through the vertical hood latch support and into the 2 fittings on the grill motor mounting bracket. 7/16 short socket, 6 inch extension, 3/8 ratchet.

Flip up grill arms: with the rod evenly spaced versus the 2 arms, I found 7/8 inch distance from the end of the rod to the C clip that mounted the circular arm, extension of the flip up grill. I did not have the V-shaped clips that hold the rod to this arm in the mounting slots. I found 2 fuel hose clamps and placed them loose on the rod, one on the right side and the other on the left. Pressed the rod into the right side arm, slid the fuel hose clamp over the arm, tighten against arm to hold rod within slot on arm, 9/32 inch short socket, 10 inch extension, ¼ ratchet. Same procedure left side.

The only thing that I found was different was that the Bl/Y and BK/R wires needed to be reversed from the diagram. Here I have them mounted according to diagram.
Red 12 gage wire is input power, 28", from ignition on auxiliary fuse box
Light Green 16 gage wire is actuator, 8", Connected to open HL delay relay connector
BL/Y wire, output power to close grill, 24" to get thru firewall, male bullet connector on opposite end
BK/R wire, output power to open grill, 24" to get thru firewall, male bullet connector on opposite end
I had to reverse BL/Y & BK/R in that black connector, because HL were on with grill closed and off with grill open. Did that while laying under dash.

Engine Compartment Wiring. @kyle340 sent me the wiring harness for engine side, so this was easy
2-wire connector and ground wire at grill motor. Grill motor housing had .2 ohms resistance to ground after ground wire connected at fender.
Ran thru opening in headlight vertical support. Hood release cable also runs here.

Along top of wheel Well. Installed female bullet connectors at firewall ends and connected blue to blue and black to black. Attached other end of ground wire at battery body ground on fender.
Test: Grill motor opened and closed flip up grills, no problem. Headlight switch off

After more than 2 months on gathering parts and getting this project together, felt good to see the grill finally operational

$270 rebuild grill motor & armature, replace plastic gear, include ship, Jeff Woods, TX
$40 RS & LS stationary grills, @IMFURYS, thanks Dan: used both, though I had to repair LS
$420 NOS grill frames, include ship, @marty mopar: used both
$450 bumper rechrome, Hanlon Plating
$50 in paint, brushes and fasteners
$1430 total: think of it as $1000 for hidden HL grill and $450 for a nice bumper to mount it inside.
This is an expensive project and totally a matter of personal taste

Imagine having that car coming up behind you at high speed on the highway.

'72 Fury's are always cool in my book.
I bought a set of 72 Virginia plates a few weeks ago because my car is white with black vinyl top and 72 VA plates were black background with white letters. I searched for awhile to find a set that I could make a short saying using the 3 letters and the 3 numbers add up to my birthday and they are in excellent shape. They look good on the car.

Plastic Bracket after scrub with Dawn and 0000 steel wool. Good paint prep.
Tape chrome finish at front edge

Painted rear side, 3 coats, Argent Silver. Paint began to run when I tried to paint all 4 sides in same coat.
Painted front side, doing 2 sides at a time. Did opposite sides, rather than all 4 sides in every coat. I did 6 coats total on front side with Argent Silver paint. No runs on the front side.
Plymouth Emblem: Smaller brush to detail around letters. Larger brush for flat sides. Flat Black oil-based paint

Also having issue with bolts holding chrone bumperette under front bumper. Heads snapped on all nuts. Looks like they are held in with a square shoulder similar to carriage bolt. Should these just knock through? I have tried hitting with mallet but no movement. Wonder if screwed in?

My front bumper does not have bumperettes. Would think carriage bolt would come loose with mallet. Any way to turn it and see if it's a stud? Or get your finger behind it to identify by feel? Best of luck! @IMFURYS Dan, didn't you tell me something about bumperettes on your 1972 Fury? Maybe you can answer @bollotti.
