I have a 1973 Polara , I noticed today there is a goop that is dense kind of like glue leaking out of the electronic ignition box . Is it time to replace the electronic ignition ?? Thanks for your help .
I dunno...the FBO box is pretty damn great. Kinda pricey though, but this is one of those times where you really do get what you pay for.you will not find a better aftermarket box
I can imagine , that stuff is like glue ! I'm thinking being in the hot garage might be what did it , especially if the same thing happened to those 100 black boxes too .I had a chance to buy a 100 NOS black boxes but they were stored in a hot metal building, they were all stuck together because the potting leaked out of them all. Hard pass.
Thanks i will check it out .I agree that heat is what causes the problem. However, I believe the heat cause is electrical and is because of a piss-poor case ground. Regulators and ECU's need a good case ground. I always verify with my ohm meter. I require .5 ohms or less and not happy until .2 ohms. I bet yours reads much higher.
Thanks I will look this stuff up on the internet .Heat does it to them. I have potting compound I use on stuff, bit pricey but works great.
