Looking at a Hellcat

But you should feel fulfilled, learning about two plugs per cylinder.
Peter, you are absolutely correct. Seriously.
That's why when someone complains about going off-topic, tell them to STFU.

Imagine. Gen III's have two plugs per cylinder. :wideyed:
I'll be the life of the next party.

...and just so you can keep the party going, the forward plug in each cylinder is called "A", the other is "B".

The plugs are installed with anti seize so there is little risk of them breaking when changing. The dealer wanted $200 to change the plugs in my Charger as part of the $299 30,000 mile service. I changed all 16 in less than an hour. When I questioned the outrageous cost, the service writer said, "Well, there are 16 plugs you know." And??? At around $40 in parts, I think I'll keep the other $160 for something else.

You needed plugs at 30k?

Note to self:
Never, ever, buy a Hemi.

Stan they are just too fun not to have. Changing plugs is easy for me. I just call my son Brad and say please come over and change my plugs. Problem solved. Of course I have painted numerous cars for him so maybe he's getting the best of the deal.

They are great engines. However, believe it or not.... the 30k vs. 100k (5.7 vs 6.4) is a standard plug vs. platinum. Yes, that comes down to cost. The 6.4 is a premium cost engine, so I imagine they build the extra $50 into the price.

Shades of the 318-4, huh? But you're fooling yourself if you think other companies don't do the same thing (or worse). Please find the attached photo of a BMW "wear item", the worm drive for a valvetronic (VVT) engine. My buddy just did this job after the cost exceeded the value of the car (so being a mechanic, he bought it from a neighbor).

N55 eccentric shaft,valvetronic motor

I've actually never changed Gen 3 hemi plugs in a car, but in a lab setting, I could do it in about 3 minutes. 5 with a blindfold. BTW, the newest hemi's also have VVT, but it's done without any wormgears!

I think the spark plug change interval on the 2014 and newer 5.7s has changed to 100000 km. I would need to verify however.

Buy the better plugs for your 5.7 and you can go longer. Iridium plugs wear long and a concentrated fire point. Depending on your driving habits I would never run spark plugs to 100000 mi, yes the computer can compensate for the worn plugs, but they are still cheap and come out more readily at 30000-60000 than 10౦000. Always use copper antiseize when putting new plugs in, guaranteed Johnny flat rate is not antiseizing your plugs for only 299

I'll change the next set for you Chris. LOL!:poke:

I have Iridium plugs in my Titan and changed them at 100,000 miles. Ran like a top before and after the plug change. Really couldn't tell the difference. Still same 10 mpg mileage before and after too. Has 4:10 axles front and rear.

I'm out of this discussion. I can't deal with all this.
200 dollars for Seafoam and being charged for when the shop effs up a sparkplug change?
I reject this BS as much as I reject social media.

After reading Carmine's post I'm very sure I will never venture under the hood of the Jeep except to add bug juice to the windshield washer! I thought the addition of hydraulic lifters was pretty hi-tech. This Hemi stuff is not hi-tech, it's freaking magic and I don't do magic freaking or otherwise.
