nothing. another problem free year of driving the '65. usually put away for season by now. if we have another non-winter like last year, this might be the first time that the car will not be stored.

The weather has been great all week! High 50s through the weekend, so Saturday morning, I gassed up the Imperial and drove to grab a free lunch! A local diner was ofering a free burger dinner to anyone bringing out an old car or truck. Great excuse to drive 33 miles for free food. Off I went! It was top-up, as I don't like putting the top up or down below 60 degrees.

Took a slightly different route home, so I ended up putting 70 miles on her. She is a joy to drive. I really need to get the heater core tested to ensure it's good. It's been disconnected since before I got the car seven years ago. Some heat would be nice, even though on a ragtop, it's kind of a "so what?" thing. They aren't Winter cars, anyway!

I also cleaned up some B-, C-, D-and E-body parts i'm looking to sell. Some, I've had 30+years, and they won't go on anything I currently own. The big-car stuff will be posted on FCBO shortly.

Broke down and picked up a plasma cutter.
I've wanted one for a long time.
I just couldn't justify 1k for something I don't use that often, but I could justify 230.00 . Sungoldpower cut 50 seemed to fit the bill. Heres the first metal cut w 220 running thru it at max, no problem. I don't need to cut anything thicker at this point in time. New toys are fun!

Finally did the ammeter bypass and drove the Cicada to storage.

It made way to put the Dart in the garage.

I have a friend/coworker that he has one. I needed some stainless steel cut so my round big green egg would fit. I bought him a circle cutter for it. He has used it a few times.

Been working on the Hudson Super Jet lately. Took it to a buddy's hot rod shop (same place did the taillights, etc on the Imperial last year) and got the underhood wiring sorted out. Come to find there was zero compression in three holes, and 50 in the other three. It had not run in six years. The chrome rings Hudson used are probably done for, so I'm pulling the head on Saturday to see what's up. It wants to start, but there is not enough compression there. After some MMO down the cylinders over the weekend, one of the "zeros" came up to 50, two stayed at zero, and the other three gained about 10-15 each. I'm thinking stuck valves...I hope so, that would be the inexpensive problem to fix. Burnt pistons are a real possibility, but I have heard the car run in the distant past. Pulling the head is easy. Getting access to the valves involves removing the passenger side inner fender panel and the right front tire to do the job; plus of course, the side covers. It's time-consuming, more than it is difficult. There is hope. I'd love to make the car at least yard-drivable in the short term.

Fired-up the old car after a three week hibernation. Temps barely exceeding freezing all the while. Four seconds of cranking over pumping the accelerator woke it up to a nice idle! Shell premium here is ethanol free and seems to work very well in the Monaco.

A New Powder coat / Blaster shop opens up close to me so I thought I’d give’em a try. I dropped off the battery tray and bracket at 09:00 and had it back at 14:30.. I very happy with the job done. So with that! I’m now gonna pull allot of other items from under the hood and drop off for coating..

Then! Came in the mail yesterday was 14’ of roof rail weather stripping that I bought that was recommended for our 74-78 Formals. We’ll see..

That foam roof rail is great stuff. Much better than the original material. Took me a little while to get the hang of getting it seated into the trim molding. Huge improvement over the 55 yr old hard cracked seal.

I was messing around with my shift linkage when I was trying to replace the little centering hats in my steering column. Moving it around with out it running made the oil start pouring out. Likely it would have been fine under pressure, but probably had been seeping.
I had one of those seal removal kits and based on some tips I learned here, I decided to take care of it. It took less than 20 minutes to remove and replace. The c-clamp and thin piece of wood made the job easy.

The centering hats will be a story for another time.

Took jumbo out and braved the freezing winter weather.

Took the wife and Abby dog to brunch nobody’s out. Must be the weather.

Got home safe n sound. Gotta be extra careful in these treacherous conditions.

Okay breaks over, gotta finish shoveling the driveway. Man these winters are brutal out here...
