What did you do to your C-body today....

Added - My fuel tank and sending unit arrived from Murray Park today! Yay! Siphoned the five or so gallons out of the old tank, and went to undo the two J-bolts holding the tank straps. Of course, they're caked with old undercoating. After 30 minutes of cleaning the threads with solvent and a wire wheel on the drill, the nuts won't budge. In my hurry to order, I forgot new J-bolts. I was going to cut them off, but new bolts have to be ordered. They''ll sit overnight, coated in Simple Green to help break up the remaining 56-yo gunk. Meantime, I need to see if I can next-day new J-bolts in time to get the tank in for the drive on Saturday morning.

Use a nut buster on the nuts. Then with the j-bolts out you can clean them up better.

Could you use carriage bolts? Heat the area just below the bolt head and bend. Should be faster and cheaper. Who will know the difference? Lindsay
 
Yesterday was hump day for my front end rebuild. That time when you have everything apart and you are waiting for Rock Auto parts to arrive via covered wagon, and the only thing you can do is clean everything. Scrubbed parts and drained barley pop cans till midnite. 67 Polara convert

I'd want them to sit with some PB blaster or the like...not WD40. ;) The solvent in the penetrating fluid will not only help free up the rusty nuts, but will also help loosen and dissolve the old undercoating.
 
Been tinkering with putting the powder coated parts back on and paining what I can on the motor.. still lots to do, but slow and steady wins the race right!

The Sport Fury's radiator needed some attention.

After the ride I did last Thursday, the cooling system collapest and pushed a lot of water/coolant out of the net.

A friend, who usually works on british cars like Land Rover, old Minis and Caterham, gave me a hand. So it was an easy job pulling the radiator out without flooding the entire garage. 40min and the thing was out. I totally forgot to take pictures :BangHead:

I don't like the modern aluminium stuff. So I'm taking the radiator to a local repair shop tomorrow to have a new net soldered in. It's not the cheapest but most originally way...
 
Drove my son's Buick to the weekend show instead of the Imperial. Old tank is still on the car. New J-bolts and nuts are on the way.
 
Added 60+ miles on the odourmeter today :thumbsup:

I finally got my gas gauge working correctly. I'm a happy guy:lol:
