What did you do to your C-body today....

Sounds like the springs on the weights are getting weak, or maybe one of them has come off it's mounting point?
Per the manual you can bend the spring tabs out to tighten them up. I think I will wait until I get it on a machine. It actually runs great and idles great and even accelerates pretty good. I think it would accelerate a little better if it didn’t advance so soon. There is no pinging at least. Going for perfection is a bad habit of mine. Plus I love mechanical challenges. I need to know how things work and why.

Finally got Goldie out for a drive after being down for a month, to reproduce the damaged rear wrap around taillight and replaced the rear shoes and a wheel cylinder.

Now thinking where I want to take Goldie for another cruise this evening. :)

First I cleaned the inner rear window with Plastic X. Then the oil filter, and finally the power steering pressure hose.
Then I decided to remove the drivers side carpet to see what the floor looked like. See page 6 of my build thread.

Went to Smokies for BBQ and then did a cruise through town with a few friends.

Ordered what I believe are all the additional parts for my drum to disc conversion. Tossed the idea around about using Dr Diff spindle sleeves, that way could of went with some Raybestos rotors for a '73 on up, but in the end, decided not to use the sleeves, and had to go with some Centric rotors from RA for pre -73. Same for the calipers. Oh well, she's only a cruiser on weekends, so hopefully the Centric stuff will be good enough. Removed all the years of rust off the spindles/backing plates and caliper brackets. They look good! Still have to get a different MC and looks like a booster maybe. I need to work some more overtime...omg! I ordered some new ball joints too. Will do all the work below on the conversion, then tackle stuff up top like the MC and booster.

RA was out of calipers, only had RF calipers by Centric, and only had Centric rotors for my year. I found plenty of RF calipers on ebay, etc, but only 1 LF caliper...anywhere!

Went with Timken bearings/seals, Raybestos pads. Tried to get better stuff where I could, but supplies are low now on these parts needed for a conversion.

Yep, my driver's tire lost a weight somehow. First time ever for me. That drive sure had me wondering what was wrong between 60-65 where the effect was strong. Found I could minimize it quite a bit by doing 75 so I blasted up the long grade up Highway 24 to the Caldecott Tunnel past everyone in my big white aircraft carrier. You do know the front deck (hood) is long enough to launch PC controlled planes easily.

So all my drum to disc parts shipped from RA and ebay this morning....everything in stock.

I'm running 15" Magnum 500 wheels. There is not a big cutout in these wheels. Wondering in you can actually see the calipers. Probably won't know until I mock them up, with wheels on. I was thinking about painting the calipers to match my body color, or maybe a shade of gold, maybe just silver...if you can actually see them. Decisions, decisions!!

Took the Newport for a drive this nice evening and reached a milestone: the odometer came to 60.000, yes 60.000 !! original miles...I own this car for almost 12 years now and bought it with approx 52.000 miles on it. To celebrate this I took a few pics of her, hope you enjoy.

Gotta a email, and PP refund for the one, and only currently known left caliper to exist lol. Have a call, and email into The RamMan, see if what I have can be rebuilt. Costly I'm sure. Or if he has some already built, ready to ship. I can only get the pistons on the calipers to come out about 1/2". Can bottom the pistons, then use compressed air to move them, but not all the way out. Maybe I'll use that wrong brake hose sent me, and fig up my grease gun to force grease into the caliper to pop the caliper out. That would be awesome!!

RA did ship my replacement brake lines at least.

Snuck out of work early stopped by the parts store & Wally World and replaced the battery and the fuel line on jumbo’s trusty 318. Then did a few victory laps. Hubcaps are off for brake adjustment later this weekend.

Nigel at National Moparts shows stock on reman 69-73 calipers. $70 Canadian funds.

69-73 C Body Left Hand Caliper-Rebuilt

Before you go The RamMan route, Google around some of the forums for reviews. Lets just say you'll find a lot of negativity. I've seen his performance at Carlisle and I'd say it's mostly deserved.

I just called my guy at Carquest and if you were in Prescott Ontario Canada, I could have you one for Monday. Carquest is owned by Advance now.

Part # 18-4032.

Thanks guys for helping locating calipers. I was finally able to get my stuck caliper pistons out. What a task!! I have a couple caliper pistons on order. Last part I need to complete the drum to disc conversion. I'll be rebuilding the OEM calipers finally!
