Took advantage of the good weather today and pulled the drivers side exhaust manifold. Had a tick so I thought it had a blown exhaust manifold gasket. Which it had. But the reason why was interesting. Both rear studs were snapped off at the block. Looks like some PO must've broken them, slapped on a new gasket, and bolted it down with the remaining four studs. Welp, looks like I have some drilling to do...

I know, I know my Imperial is not a C but but I finally got her into storage for the next 6 months. Hadn't planned to store it off site this year. But who knows might need some extra space.

Sweet car. Back when I was 18 I worked for a shop & we had a client bring one of these in for a big block conversion. 440 with a nitrous plate under the carb. Ended up deleting the muffler for 3 pairs of catalytic converters to pass emissions. Couldn't close the hood. It was my idea to use a drop base air cleaner, carve out the bottom of the original air cleaner and epoxy it to the lid to fit over the filter. Back then you couldn't run an open air filter in Texas on an emission legal car, had to wear the original cover. They didn't test it, just a tailpipe sniffer test and a quick visual inspection. It worked. That thing would boil the tires for days like that was its job.

We are planning to finish her up. The shop where it was at, has become sketchy, owner ship still has not changed. In addition covid destroyed the entertainment indusrty for 13+ months, and just getting back to work. Money is tight, so its at a good place to do so. Been running down some key pieces "lost", and may have some luck. Well update as it progresses.

Put a CD player in the little Porch and had to move Jumbo out on the street because it was actually kind of hot today and garage shade was needed. Pretty straight forward once I pulled out the miles of cable used to add serious XM, a talk on the phone thru your radio microphone and some weird converter box for an old school add on usb LoL. Dumped all 20 pounds in the trash and did a much simpler install. Abby went for a radio test drive around the block. We got back she jumped down from the Porch and went over to the Fury with a “well let’s go” look. So off we went around thru the neighborhood. Tools left on the floor & wide open garage be damned. She sure loves driving around in “Her” car.

I had heaters like that in my shop. My first winter there I turned one of them on and set it for 56 degrees just to keep the chill out of the air in the warehouse. I got the bill for that month and it was over $600!

thr buidling i bought was climate controlled year round. small offices were AC and heat, and several thousand sq ft. with no AC but a bunch of those heaters hanging from the ceiling. One NE winter blew my heating budget -- I kept 45 degrees to stop sprinklers (a wet system) and water/sewage from freezing -- to the friggin' moon.
as the fleet dwindled, the space with my stuff dwindled, and folks running businesses (vs storing cars) needed leased warehouse space/offce AC and all was good. I converted ALL the spinklers to "dry systems" and went with 20 degrees in my space in winter. me and my tenant(s) got a bit of a break.
even at 20 degrees, 20K square feet of warehouse i still need is pricey Jan-March every year. I do have 2K of indoor, heated/"fanned" "garage" type space for light work in the wnter (seats, wheel/tire changes, light mechanical -- no torch/welding/anything flammable though) .. heck i dont even start them without moving into yet another "garage" space (and run the exhaust outside via tube) NOT climated controlled but full of fire extinguishers.
I got space, but NOT the lettuce to keep it ALL at 70 degrees year-round like at home.
still, the things we do for our hobby - its why we (speaklng for mysef) DONT do it for the money

Was able to go for a drive this weekend which sometimes is unusual this time of year. Changed the oil and rotated the tires.
Unless it doesn’t snow, it is likely parked until spring. I had been averaging about 2000 miles per year, but this season I logged 2823 miles. 1500 of them were to Duluth and then to Chicago area for the Great C-body meet, then back to Fargo. Didn’t get in as many local cruises this year as last year. However the Car didn’t miss a beat. Next year may be the year to drive to Carlisle.

It's a beautiful 73 degrees outside today, 9 Nov 21. "Storing cars for the Winter"...an interesting custom. Rust never sleeps, says Neil Young. Got the Imperial and the Coronet ready to go for the Veterans Day Parade on Thursday. Our Mopar club is expecting 8-10 cars. Should be fun. Top down. Granted, the forecast is overcast and 44 degrees, following rain for Wednesday night, but I'll be there, no matter what. I actually fit in a pair of my old '90s DCUs (desert camos), so I'll be driving in those. Cant find my old cap, though.

Went and picked up my re-chromed bumper and bumper support from the Powder Coater.. very happy with the results. Now just time to put it all back together. Of the two bumpers, Rusted one is the original, it was cheaper to purchase a re-chromed then to repair the original.. I’m powder coating everything I can. This car is going to be so sealed up in Powder Coat that my great grandkids won’t have to worry about her Rusting . Lol
